ギャラリーでは年に5回～6回、それぞれに3週間～1ヶ月程度の剪画作品展を行っています。
またその他に、剪画教室やワークショップなども随時開催。
その他、剪画のための材料等も開発して販売しています。
特にアイロンで貼る熱圧着紙シリーズは、人気商品です。
「鬼の伝説」 (J)
「鬼の伝説」展
鳥取の「洗足山の鬼伝説」を剪画にすることになり、この度の作品展にも「鬼の伝説」というテーマを設定しました。日本各地には、それぞれ土地や人々に関わるさまざまな鬼の話が伝わっています。
桃太郎から始まって、一寸法師、こぶとり爺さんなどの昔話、酒呑童子や邪鬼など人を困らせる鬼、そして能で演じられる怨霊や幽霊などの般若、なまはげや鬼祭りなどに出てくるその地方独特の鬼。こうした多岐にわたる鬼の姿を、それぞれの作家に剪画として表現してもらうことにしました。
鬼の話に関わらず、寺院の瓦や礎石など、様々なところに鬼の意匠が使われています。人間を困らせる鬼だけではなく、人を助けたり、多くの人に愛される愛嬌のある鬼もいます。日本文化の中にある鬼は、あまりに種類が多く、その性質も違うので、1回の作品展では表現しきれない気もします。これをきっかけに、また新たな鬼を探していくのも面白いかも知れません。鬼に関する面白い話がありましたら、是非わたしたちにもお聞かせください。

“Legends of Ogre” （E）

The creative theme for this exhibition, “Legends of Ogre (Oni),” was chosen to coincide with the opportunity in which we – senga artists – are commissioned by Tottori prefecture to create senga works based on the “Legend of Mt. Senzoku Ogres.”
Throughout Japan, there is a great number of ogre stories unique to each local region. They include old fairy tales such as Momotaro (The Peach Boy), Issun Boshi (The Inch-High Samurai), Kobutori Jiisan (The Old Man with a Lump) and bad ogre tales such as Shuten Doji (Sake-Loving Ogre) and Ama-no-Jaku (Devil’s Advocate) as well as Hannya, the female evil spirit/ghost in traditional Noh plays. Additionally, there are Namahage and other nationally-famous and popular local ogres.
For this exhibition, I asked the artists to create a wide range of ogre-themed senga works.
The images of ogres are familiar sites in Japan. In addition to old tales, they can be found in other applications as roof tiles and cornerstones for temples and shrines. Not all ogres are nuisance to humans. There are friendly ones that help people and are loved throughout the country.
There are too many kinds of ogres in Japanese culture, with each having a different personality, to include in just one exhibition. It could be fun to start looking around for other ogres by taking this opportunity. If you know any interesting ogre stories, please share them with us.

「ふわふわ」 (J)
「ふわふわ」展
今年も剪画アート＆スペースでの展示が始まりました。今回の春のテーマは「ふわふわ」です。
「ふわふわ」という言葉で皆さんは何を思い出しますか？ふわふわの布団、小さな子猫、空をゆく雲、そしてパンケーキ…。日本語ではこの「ふわふわ」という言葉は、柔らかくて心地よいものという意味の他に、漂ったり、浮いたり、場所が定まらない様子を意味することもあります。暖かく柔らかい雰囲気だけではなく、浮ついた落ち着かない気分を表現することもあるのです。
そんな「ふわふわ」を作家たちに剪画で表現してもらいました。春はちょっと出かけると様々な「ふわふわ」を見かけることができることでしょう。たんぽぽの綿毛やネコヤナギなど…。皆さんの「ふわふわ」と作家たちが描いた剪画の「ふわふわ」を見比べながら楽しんでいただければ幸いです。

The 2023 Senga Art & Space exhibition season has arrived. The theme for this year’s spring exhibition is Fluffy.
What does the word “fluffy” remind you of? Feathery comforters? Furry kittens? Or clouds in the sky that look like huge cotton candies? Maybe those mouth-watering perfect pancakes?
In Japanese, “fluffy” has a variety of meanings. In addition to things that are soft and comfortable, it is also used to describe the sense of drifting, floating as well as the state of uncertainty. As such, “fluffy” in Japanese could represent not only the feeling of warmth and tenderness but also the sense of restlessness.
For this exhibition, I asked the artists to create “fluffy” in senga. Take a short outdoor walk in spring and you will be introduced to all kinds of fluffiness such as dandelion puffs and soft pussy willow.
I hope you will have fun comparing your image of fluffy with that of the artists in this exhibition.
